Frank & Stella were playing the North / South hands against Ray & Peter.
Frank's comments:
Board 7 was a hoot when we played it. As South, Stella opened Two Clubs (Precision, showing 11-15 High Card Points and either a 6-card club suit, or a 5-card club suit with a 4-card major. The 2♦ bid asks for clarification, and 3♣ confirms six clubs). I thought briefly and jumped straight to six clubs. When dummy went down, Stella went pale, Ray wore a look of shock and disbelief, and Peter grinned like a Cheshire cat. When the Queen and Jack of clubs crashed at trick 4 the colour returned to Stella's cheeks. I suspect that each of the other three people at the table thought my jump to 6 Clubs bizarre. They may have a case.
Alaric's comment - but you can't argue with results, can you! The traveller revealed that the 6♣ contract was only bettered by two pairs who found 6NT, most subsiding in 3NT.
