Posted 25/03/2011 - Trophy Presentations

Phil & Phil with the Peter Seaton Trophy Trophy Judging by the two photographs, it must have been an exceptionally foggy evening inside Mountnessing Village Hall when Alaric presented the Margaret Curtis Trophy (Ladies' Pairs Championship) to the winners, Catriona Lovett & Maureen Vede (FOR THE THIRD YEAR IN A ROW!!!) at club night on March 24th. It was equally foggy when Alaric presented the Peter Seaton Trophy (Men's Pairs Championship) to the winners, Phil Hitchins & Phil Tucker on the same evening. [PS, if you want advice about a model of camera phone NOT to buy please contact alaric@mountnessingbridgeclub.org.uk!]

Posted 24/03/2011 - EBU National Pairs, Regional Finals

Congratulations to club member Margaret Curtis who, playing with her regular partner Dave Sherman, finished 10th in the Regional Final played at Leatherhead on March 20th, and consequently qualified for the National Final. In the same event, Catriona Lovett & Mike Harbour finished 20th out of 77 pairs competing. Club members Ray Clarke & Simon Moorman and Chris Megahey & Alaric Cundy played in the Regional Final at Peterborough on the same day, but were less successful.

Posted 21/02/2011 (amended 25/02/2011) - Big Triumph for Mountnessing!

Teams from Mountnessing finished 1st and 2nd in the Helliar Trophy! Unfortunately, one of the two teams nominated prior to the event as a qualifier for the Garden Cities Trophy fared much less well and so the club failed to get through to the Regional Finals. The full results are available on the Essex CBA website. See also the "Honours" page on this website.

We are inviting all club members and visitors to have their say in the debate about deploying computer generated deals at the club. Alternatively, members can share their views with all club members by posting comments on the Message Pad.

Posted 17/12/2010: NICKO and NICKO Plate 2010/11

Mountnessing entered three teams into this year's contest - see the 'honours and awards' page for details. Sadly, all three teams were knocked out in the first round of the main event, so all three are now contesting the NICKO Plate. The Mountnessing 'A' team, represented by Jill & Roger Tattersfield, Chris Megahey and Alaric Cundy achieved something of a coup in the first round of the plate, beating a team from Clare that included International standard players, including occasional club visitor David Price and Jane Moore. The other two first round Plate matches have yet to be played.
